I should add, there were many more grave markers in this cemetary in the 60's. Many of the wooden plank type and some simple wooden crosses.

I grew up near this cemetary and the nearby abandoned buildings. I guess the old 'shacks' are gone now but I think I remember where they were. There was also a small church.
I found your site in doing some research to see if this place is still there. I was thrilled to see google maps has a street level view that takes you to the intersection of Vasser and Wendel.
I plan to visit Houston at the end of August and I do a little photography. I hoped to take some shots there. It is good to see someone cares.
I met the last resident of Wendel. He used to ride a white horse taking care of the cattle in that field. For a while he stopped by our back fence on Hirondel. Then they built the other streets.
